RM boys tennis team opens 3-A playoffs on the road Monday

Rocky Mount's boys tennis team will have to hit the road for the first round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3-A dual team state playoffs Monday.

The Gryphons (12-5), the No. 2 seed from the NEW 6 Conference, have an afternoon date with Union Pine, the No. 1 seed from the Cape Fear Valley Conference, in Cameron - a 90-minute drive from Rocky Mount.

With Rocky Mount belonging to lowest seeded conference (NEW 6) in its side of the bracket, the Gryphons, should they continue to win, likely will not have a home match in the playoffs.
