Rocky Mount's Battle, Bynum make NCCA's All-District teams

NASH COUNTY -- Two Nash County standouts have erned first-team honors on the 2008-09 North Carolina Coaches Association's District 3 All-Star Squad.

Players from Nash, Wilson, Pitt, Wayne, Edgecombe, Lenoir and Greene Counties are eligible for selection. Voting is performed by NCCA Coaches from each district.

Earning top honors from Nash County were Rocky Mount's Dyonna Battle and Southern Nash's Alyse Hall.

Shaniqua Clay from Wilson Beddingfield was tabbed as the NCCA District 3 Player of the Year. Beddingfield's Debra Pegram was the pick as the Coach of the Year.

Nash Central's Jasmine Sessoms was a second-team selection, while Northern Nash's Ashley Hughes and Rocky Mount's Lakia Bynum were selected to the third team.

The complete North Carolina Coaches Association District 3 All-Star Team is as follows:

First Team

  • Shaniqua Clay, Wilson Beddingfield
  • Danielle Butts, South Central
  • Monique Williams, SouthWest Edgecombe
  • Dyonna Battle, Rocky Mount
  • Alyse Hall, Southern Nash
Second Team

  • Tramicka James, Wilson Fike

  • Jasmine Sessoms, Nash Central
  • Casey Elliott, Wilson Beddingfield
  • Ny'Neka Euwell, SouthWest Edgecombe
Third Team
  • Ashley Hughes, Northern Nash
