Rocky Mount finishes second in Wachovia Cup race

CHAPEL HILL - Wilson Fike won the Wachovia Cup competition for the NEW 6 3-A Conference for the 2009-09 school year.
          
Fike took the Cup on the strength of outright titles this past spring in men¹s golf, women¹s soccer, third place finishes in baseball and men¹s and women¹s track, as and a tie for third in men¹s tennis.

Rocky Mount was a close second after winning a league crown in women¹s track, tying for
first place in baseball, and finishing second in women¹s soccer and men¹s tennis.

Nash Central was third thanks to a championship in men¹s track and a runner-up finish in women¹s track.

These are final conference standings:

1. Wilson Fike, 178.5 pts.

2. Rocky Mount, 170 pts.

3. Nash Central, 166 pts.

4. Northern Nash, 161.5 pts.

5. Southern Nash, 141 pts.

6. SouthWest Edgecombe, 118 pts.
