Lady Gryphons advance to meet another playoffs opponent

ROCKY MOUNT - The score was even at halftime, but Rocky Mount High's locker room was absent of tension.
The Gryphons' girls' soccer team had just completed a first half where it failed to separate itself from visiting Northern Guilford, but there was a strong sense from the players in white jerseys that play would turn in their favor.
It did.
Second-seeded Rocky Mount shook off a slow start and benefited from a hat trick from sophomore forward Allison Raper in a 3-1 victory Tuesday evening in the first round of the NCHSAA 3-A state tournament.
